Wellington is the capital city of New Zealand and the second most populous urban area in the country. Geographically, Wellington is on the south-western tip of the North Island. The city is one of the most densely populated in the country due to being surrounded by the harbour to the south and ranges of hills to the north. Not only is Wellington the hub or seat of government - being in the centre of the country - but it is also a hub or portal for road and air traffic between the North and South Islands.
Although it's known as "windy Wellington" due to its position on the edge of Cook Strait and in the Roaring Forties, there is much to do and see in and around the city. The city and surrounding area is known for its art galleries, culture, theatres, cafes, sporting and fashion events, museums, and also wildlife reserves.
At the foot of the Rimutaka Ranges, is a landed naturist club to base yourself and from which to explore the district from.
