Frequently Asked Questions
No one likes lots of regulations and generally common sense will serve you well but, as with all clubs, Rotota does have some rules and facts of life that it is best to be aware of before you visit. This is by no means a comprehensive list of all the rules detailed in our constitution and by-laws but is designed to answer some for the more frequently posed questions. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your visit that are not answered here, please contact the Rotota committee before your visit to ask for clarification.
Am I allowed to bring my pet to Rotota?
Am I allowed to light a fire at Rotota?
May I use my vehicle to get about the Rotota

Are there facilities for disposing of rubbish at
Rotota?
What are your supervision requirements

May I bring a child who is not my own to
Rotota?
Q: Am I allowed to bring my pet to Rotota?
No cats or dogs are allowed at Rotota, with the exception of
guide dogs for the blind. Other pets must have prior permission from
the committee.
Q: Am I allowed to light a fire at Rotota?
No open fires are permitted under any circumstances as we are
situated in an extensive area of forestry. You may cook on a
gas barbecue or gas camp stove, and indeed we have gas barbecuing
facilities available for use near the clubhouse.
Q: May I use my vehicle to get about the Rotota
grounds?
Motorised vehicles must not be used for personal transportation
within the grounds without prior committee approval. We try to keep
things as quiet and natural as possible so unless your vehicle is
being used for a purpose other than simply transporting you around
the grounds (such as launching a boat or delivering something heavy
to another part of the grounds), you are asked to walk or perhaps
use a bicycle.
Q: Are there facilities for disposing of rubbish
at Rotota?
There is no council refuse collection service for Rotota since we
are situated in a remote part of the countryside, which means that
all our rubbish must be transported into town on a trailer. Members
and visitors are therefore required to remove all of their rubbish
on departure. On occasions when large numbers of guests are
expected, the committee sometimes organises rubbish collection for a
gold-coin donation but these occasions will always be advertised in
advance so don't assume that the service will be available when you
visit.
Q: What are your supervision
requirements for children?
Children must be supervised and controlled at all times for their
own safety. As our "swimming pools" are actually a lake and a stream
that are not fenced off, it is imperative that your children are
watched closely.
Q: May I bring a child who is not my own to
Rotota?
You may well wish to bring a child who is a friend of your own
children, or a nephew, niece, grandchild etc. Any child who is not a
part of your immediate family must have written permission from a
parent or guardian, which should be presented to our caretaker on
your arrival. If in doubt, check with a committee member before
coming.
